perfect for pollinators

A delightfully attractive member of the Ammi family with its decorative fern-like, foliage, Ammi visnaga as it is known has robust leaves that cover the plant, terminating in multi-branched flower heads. These flower heads are beautiful umbellifers, which are made up of hundreds of small individual florets, forming a dense swirling pattern of limey green flowers. A native of Egypt, Ammi visnaga produces beautiful 15cm lacy heads of soft greeny-white flowers.

A garden staple for flower farmers and loved by florists these these plants look striking on their own in a vase with the different shades of green.  A fine cut flower and garden plant it lasts well in a vase and makes an exciting addition to a mixed border. Harvest flowers when 2/3rds to 3/4's open.  If you plant these in a windy area you may need to stake them, so we tend to plant them amongst other plants which is a great way to avoid staking. A fantastic filler flower for the garden.  Happy in a full sun position although it will cope with a little shade, protect from frost. Plants flower from early summer.

Plants will self sow so you will always have this in your garden and seedlings are easily removed and tucked into other areas of the garden.

These Autumn sown plants will have a head start on their spring sown equivalents in that they will produce larger, more vigorous, more floriferous and perhaps more importantly earlier flowering plants.

Annual | Will self-sow

Height 80cm-1m x 30-40cm Wide
