perfect for pollinators

This magnificent architectural biennial plant grows to majestic proportions and has great flowers and equally as good seed pods.  Its fabulous umbels of lime green coloured flowers contrasting with crimson coloured stems make it a standout garden plant that also has other great qualities.

Back in the day Angelica Archangelica was candied and was a staple ingredient in Christmas cakes.  A handful of freshly chopped pieces can also be added to Rhubarb to eliminate the need to use as much sugar. Check out our blog for some recipes for how to candy Angelica and how to make jam.  Lynda Hallinan grew some of our plants and made some very yummy jam with it!  Its seed pods also make great dried flowers.

For best results grow in full sun although some partial shade is fine. Pop some mulch around it to ensure that the plant retains some moisture.  Just as at home in the border as it is in the potager garden but given its height, it is definitely best at the back of the garden.  It flowers summer through autumn with seed pods appearing after that.  Will self-sow but with such beauty and culinary uses who minds that!  Great in a vase, but be sure to harvest the flowers once the seed pods have developed or it may flop. May need staking but ours were fine as you can see from the photo.

Height 1.8m x 70cm Wide

Biennial | Will self-sow
