An old style vintage biennial, but such a great addition to the garden.  In its first year, this plant quickly establishes an attractive clump of grey foliage, and in its second year, it bursts forth with tall stems with glowing magenta flowers that float above the foliage. It has a long season of interest flowering from spring through until late summer.  It is easy to grow and trouble free, in short, it is the perfect plant!

It is grown as much for its foliage as its flowers and the foliage provides interest in the winter garden whilst not flowering.  We underplant Roses with this lovely little plant as it works really well to hide their bare legs! It is an excellent choice for dry gardens as does like to have good drainage and it is of course right at home in the cottage garden as it will self sow and pop up around your garden as it self-sows.  The fact that it likes a dry spot means it is an excellent choice of plant in our climate as things become a lot drier.

Once flowering is over you can remove the flower heads if you do not want it to self-seed leaving the attractive foliage on display for the rest of the season.  Butterflies also love this plant.

We also have Lychnis coronaria "Gardeners World" which is a stunning double variety in this selection and also Lychis coronaria "Alba" for the lover of white flowers.

Height 30cm x 30cm - with flower stems up to 90cm from the base
