Achillea millefolium | Summer WineRegular price $12.00 Save $-12.00
Another stunning colour in the Achillea range - Summer Wine. Summer Wine can best be described as a burgundy red. Like all Achilleas or Yarrow as they are often known, they are best grown in lean, dry to medium moisture, in a well-drained position in full sun. Does well in average garden soils and tolerates poor soils as long as drainage is good. Avoid rich, fertile soils as flower stems tend to flop. Deadhead spent flower heads to promote additional flowering. Cut plants back to basal leaves after flowering to tidy the planting and to encourage new foliage growth - this will also possibly encourage an autumn flowering. Divide clumps as needed (every 3-4 years) to reinvigorate plantings.
A fantastic flower for cutting as it lasts well in floral work and in the vase. Dark colours also tend to hold their colour better for drying and dried flowers are becoming increasingly popular! Great in the garden border or the cutting garden.
