Agastache cana | Bolero
One of the longest blooming perennials in our gardens. This stunning variety flowers from midsummer into late autumn and sometimes early winter, plants are topped by a plethora of brightly coloured flower spikes which add a bright spot of colour to the landscape.
Agastache also known as "Hummingbird Mint" which is actually from the mint family has the most beautifully minty scented leaves with the added beauty of tall spires of cerise pink. These are strong vigorous bushy plants that have a compact habit. A great plant for attracting bees and butterflies with the minty scent of the leaves.
Looks beautiful planted en masse in borders and is equally at home in a pot. Good drainage is the key to success with this plant. Deadheading can be done throughout the flowering period but leave seed heads on from mid-autumn as encouraging new growth in winter months may cause damage. Trim back early spring to encourage strong new growth. Happiest in full sun but will tolerate a little bit of shade. Can be divided once established by pulling the clump apart and dividing into three or four pieces with good roots and replant. A great cut flower.
