This very pretty Antirrhinum or Snapdragon as it is also known has spikes of lovely delicate coloured pastel pink and apricot tinged flowers.
Antirrhinums are such reliable garden plants that have attractive rich green foliage and flower throughout the summer. An excellent plant for providing vertical interest in the garden, they are also a mainstay of the cutting garden with their densley packed spikes of flowers that bloom in succession. If flowers are harvested your plants will flower from early summer right through into mid autumn - they are an all round star performer in the garden.
Though technically classified as a short lived perennial, they are often cultivated as an annual, sown early in spring to flower in summer, or as a biennial, sown in late summer to overwinter and flower the following season.
To maximise the production of flowers, plant them in full sun, and space about 30 to 45cm apart.
When harvesting for cut flowers, just the bottom 3-5 flowers should be open. As a cut flower, snaps will last in a vase for such a long time. Generally expect a week from them but often you will get longer.
