Aster x frikartii | Mönch
One of the first Asters to bloom, Mönch creates a beautiful splash of colour with masses of large soft clear blue flowers with slender rays and golden centres. In some gardening circles, this lovely aster is acclaimed as one of the ten best perennials to have in your garden.
This is one of several hybrid Asters, or Michaelmas Daisies, with an extremely long season of flowering from mid-summer through autumn. Plants form a bushy mound of light green leaves, bearing branching stems of lavender-blue daisy flowers. A perfect choice for a pot or in a well-drained sunny spot in the garden. Great as a cut flower. In regions with wet soil in winter, you will have the best success growing these in a raised bed that has excellent drainage. Plants can be easily split in early spring. Loved by butterflies and bees.
