Cleome spinosa Violet Queen adds  strong vertical interest and a delicate look to the perennial border. and is a particularly attractive variety which produces flowers all summer long. Known as the spider flower, long stamens that protrude from the large flowers and the long seed pods, borne later in the season is why this plant is referred to as the spider flower.

Violet Queen  is an easy-to-grow annual that adds colour to the late summer garden when many flowers are beginning to fade. The fluffy clusters of rich violet sweetly scented flowers are wonderful for attracting butterflies. It is an excellent cut flower and the seed capsules also dry well. They do however have thorns so if you are you using them for cut flowers then our thorn and greenery stripper is just what you need to easily remove them.

The plants grow to a height of up to 1.2m high with strong stems, they are completely self-stable and do not need support.

Plants self-sow, so remove the seed capsules if you do not want this to happen.
