Seed Bombs | Poppy Blend
Red Poppies inspire us and remind us of greatness ... Lest we forget
In the spring of 1915, shortly after losing a friend in Ypres, a Canadian doctor, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was inspired by the sight of poppies growing in battle-scarred fields to write a now-famous poem called 'In Flanders Fields'. After the First World War, the poppy was adopted as a symbol of Remembrance.
Our little bag of seed bombs contain Flanders Red Poppies or Papaver rhoeas also known as Soldiers Poppy. These poppies are a brilliant scarlet red and approximately 7.5cm wide usually with a black blotch at the base of the petals.
Packaged in a reusable organic muslin cloth bag (NO PLASTIC!), there are 6 large seed bombs in each pack.
You don't need to "plant" seed bombs, they are designed to break up in the rain and already contain all the nutrients and organic material needed to support germination and success of the plants. Just "throw and grow".
The easiest gardening around - Each seed bomb is uniquely designed to preserve the seeds until the conditions are ready for germination. They break apart on contact with moisture and contain all of the nutrients and organic materials needed to support germination. Once they have finished flowering they will self-sow.
This seed mix was created in conjunction with Steve Wratten who is the Professor for the Bio-Protection Research Centre at Lincoln University and bug expert Rudd Kleinpaste so you know this selection of seed is the absolute best.
They are packaged in a little reusable organic muslin drawstring bag and contain six seed bombs which will give you enough to create one square metre of brilliant scarlet red flowers. Also loved by bees.
A great gift for children or beginner gardeners or simply anyone who is wanting to provide food for our bees as well as have a beautiful patch of flowers!
Made in New Zealand
We also have seed bombs available for Edible Flowers, Healing Herbs, Butterflies, Ladybirds and Flowers for Bees
