Commonly called chocolate cosmos or black cosmos due to its dark velvety burgundy chocolate coloured flowers. It is a favourite of many with its lightly scented chocolate fragrance. This species of Cosmos is a native of Mexico. These plants will grow in moderately fertile medium moisture level soils but drainage is key to ensure that the fibrous tuber does not rot. Plants are drought tolerant once established.
Plants will thrive in a full sun position. It is not a winter hardy plant so you may like to lift the tuber as you do for a Dahlia. Flowering occurs from early summer through to autumn the flower stems stand above the finely divided foliage.
A beautiful addition to the garden border, in a pot and also an excellent choice for cutting. Loved by bees and butterflies.
Height with flower stems to 30cm x 30cm Wide
Perennial | Tender so protect from frost or lift the tuber
Plant size: PB2 - Equivalent 1.2 litres
