Digitalis lutea | Small Yellow FoxgloveRegular price $12.00 Save $-12.00
Digitalis lutea is a charming delicate foxglove with lemon coloured flowers. This little charmer is spring flowering and bears delicate 2cm pale cream-yellow tubular flowers on slender, upright stalks. Digitalis lutea grows to just 60cm in height with a spread of 30cm with nodding, tubular flowers that grow along one side of the flower stems.
Very tolerant of many conditions, its preferred conditions would be in part shade although it can be grown successfully in most soils and can even cope with full sun and will become drought tolerant once it has become established. Lutea will in its first year put on leaf growth with flowering in the second year. This little cutie looks lovely planted with other shade-loving plants such our Hellebores and Hostas and will add a real charm to your woodland or shade garden.
As with all foxgloves, we recommend handling them when wearing gloves given the digitalin content which is used in cardiac medicine. Folklore tales say that the fairy folk gave the fox the flowers to put on its paws whilst hunting, hence the name Foxglove!
We have a wonderful range of Foxgloves with many not often seen so if you love them as much as we do you will be sure to find some that you love that you have not seen before.
