Regular price $10.00

Teasel is an Heirloom herb with comb-like flowerheads once used extensively in the textile industry for raising the nap on woollen cloth. It is a very dramatic plant and suited to the back of the border as can reach a height of 1.8m with flower stems. Teasel makes an excellent cut and dried flower, but the spikes are sharp so be careful! Teasel plants will perform well in sunny areas with well-drained soil.

Once established Teasel need very little care and are fairly drought tolerant. Bees and Bumblebees go crazy for Teasel flowers and birds love the seeds. The first year they will not produce a flower, but the second year, tall spikes will form with flower heads that are approximately 10cm cylindrical-shaped and made up of a mass of tiny flowers. The flowers are usually a lavender colour and bloom in a band from the bottom of the flower head to the top, lasting about a month.
