This very pretty Cranesbill Geranium clarkei | Kashmir White adds a touch of luminosity to shaded areas with its profusion of large upward facing flowers that are approximately 5cm in diameter.
The flowers have contrasting veins of lilac pretty making for a very pretty combination. These great little doers in the garden flower profusely from late spring to mid summer and the flower stems stand atop the attractive lobed leaves. Cutting back to the ground after the first flush of flowers and adding a touch of general purpose fertilise will often stimulate a second flowering.
Easy to grow, this little cranesbill is not a fan of high summer temperatures or high humidity, but we seem to have no problem here with it at Puriri Lane and we get our fair share of humidity here!
This little lovely will perform best in full sun or part shade and likes moderately fertile soil that is well drained. Full shade can also be tolerated. A showy addition to cottage gardens, garden beds and borders and the perfect choice for underplanting both roses and shrubs as a ground cover. Rabbits leave this plant alone too!
You can propagate this plant easily by division in early spring
