Geum rivale | Alba
Geum rivale "Alba" has the daintiest creamy white nodding flowers over a very long period and it is oh so pretty! Geums have fabulous foliage and grow into an attractive mound and are equally as happy in the garden or a pot. They make a great ground cover or can be used to edge a path. Whilst they are known for liking a moist situation, they are equally as happy in a drier spot, but a layer of mulch to retain moisture is always appreciated.
Flowering is from spring and into summer, but when they like where they are growing there are often flowers throughout the growing season. They are frost resistant so quite hardy. Once finished flowering their little nodding pompom like seed heads also look very attractive. With their long stems, they also make a great cut flower, and the more you cut them, the more they will produce for you. Can be easily split in spring or autumn Happy in a sunny spot but equally happy in a partially shaded position.
