Also known as birds eyes, this little plant deserves a revival as it has beautiful bell shaped flowers on slender stems in shades of pale violet or lilac and looks lovely in mixed borders. Whilst an annual, it will self sow so you will never be without it.
The flowers are loved by bees, they are so easy and exude the sweetness of Spring thru their flowers, and have a lovely chocolate scent. Extremely floriferous, you’ll get masses of these entrancing, 1cm light blue or violet flowers, which are set off by powdery-blue stamens and a yellow throat with a dark purple ring at the top. The plants flower on bushy, ferny upright stems. Highly rewarding, this neglect-tolerant heart stealer looks great in any type of garden, self-sows and is excellent for picking so makes great old-fashioned bouquets. Gilia also looks magical planted with roses!
Gilia love full sun and are drought tolerant once established
