perfect for pollinators

Also commonly known as straw flowers and everlasting flowers Helichrysum bracteatum Scarlet is as the name suggests a striking scarlet red.

These flowers are easy to grow and look great in the garden but do double duty as make an excellent cut flower for use in arrangements adding a unique texture.  They are also fantastic flowers for using as wedding buttonholes.

Pick the your straw flowers as soon as the flowers start to open, pop them straight into a bucket of water and rest the stems in water for a few hours if you are using them fresh to condition them. Alternatively hang the flower stems upside down to keep stems straight to dry them. If using dried in floral work you will find it is easier to wire the flower buds ahead of drying them.

We have some stunning colours in this plant - Dragon Fire, Pomegranate and Silvery Rose and Apricot Peach.

A perfect plant for your cutting patch so perfect for the gardener and the flower farmer!

Plant in a full sun position in well drained soil.

Half Hardy Annual - so you need to protect or plant out after all chance of frost has passed - seeds are super easy to collect.
