For spectacular effect you cannot beat Heuchera villosa Chantilly mass planted as a ground cover. Chantilly is a vigorous cultivar that has medium sized green leaves and lovely creamy white flowers throughout the summer months. The airy panicles of flowers are held on slender wiry stems that stand proud above the foliage. Plants are mainly evergreen except in colder temperatures where they may become deciduous. Temperatures to about -5 degrees Celsius are tolerated so it is hardy.
This cultivar like our Heuchera villosa Bronze Beauty is quite tolerant of hot and humid summers unlike some of the other heucheras. Consistent moisture is appreciated so mulching certainly helps. They do like a well drained position in full sun to partial shade but in hotter temperatures respite from the hot afternoon sun is appreciated. Quite drought tolerant once established but if it becomes too dry foliage is reduced.
Cutting the flowers will ensure that your plant repeat flowers. Plants can be divided in spring every 3-4 years to give you more plants. A great choice for woodland style gardens, rocky slopes or native plant areas.
