Penstemon | Alice HindleyRegular price $12.00 Save $-12.00
Taller than most Penstemons, Award winning Alice Hindley is a bushy semi-evergreen perennial boasting incredibly pretty bell shaped pale mauve flowers with contrasting white throats. They rise elegantly above a foliage of large mid green leaves. A lovely way to add long lasting cheerful colour to your garden from mid-summer through to the end of autumn.
This beautiful Penstemon adds attractive vertical interest with its flower stems as well as being an excellent cut flower. Best grown in full sun or partial shade and adds impact to cottage gardens, garden borders or naturalistic plantings. Penstemons dislike damp conditions so drainage is key to success.
Penstemons are actually pretty tough once established and actually require very little water and barely any fertiliser. Fertilise once at planting and then never again as excessive fertilising can lead to excessive die back over the winter months. This beautiful Penstemon will attract loads of butterflies and other beneficial pollinators and is not liked by rabbits which thrills us no end!
Deadhead after flowering to maintain vigor and then cut back to the base in early spring to encourage new growth. Tip prune in the growing season to keep nice and bushy.
