Phlox paniculata Snowman with its sweetly fragrant flowers, long flowering season and luscious white flower heads make this plant a must have in the summer garden. It is a showy plant that will flower from summer right through until mid-autumn and due to the rich nectar the flowers are a firm favourite with butterflies and birds. Phlox paniculata grows in an upright clump and then the flower stems stand proud of the foliage at around 60-90cm.
Phlox prefers full sun to very light shade and enjoy soil that is moderately fertile with medium moisture but it must be well drained. We mulch our plants to ensure the roots are kept cool. Phlox is an excellent choice for the perennial border where their dazzling white flowers will fit with any colour scheme. They look particularly striking when planted en masse. Deadhead to keep a neat appearance but this will also encourage repeat flowering. Cut back stems once flowering has finished Plants are winter dormant, reappearing in spring.
