Salvia patens | Cambridge Blue

Regular price $12.00

Salvia patens Cambridge Blue has been around since 1934 and its flower colour which is the prettiest powder blue is quite a rarity in nature.  Salvia patens flowers are like a parrot beak with the flowers being some of the largest in the salvia clan.

Cambridge Blue looks particularly stunning planted with Salvia patens Chilcombe and Salvia patens Oxford Blue of which we also grow.  Cambridge blue flowers from early summer and with the removal of spent flower stems means it will often flower until the first frost

Cambridge Blue is actually a tuber so it can be treated like a Dahlia in that it can be dug up if you want to protect it from a wet winter as they do not like wet feet.   We add drainage metal with our soil when we plant Cambridge Blue, which works well.  A great little option for a pot or it looks equally at home massed in borders with mixed annuals and perennials.
