perfect for pollinators

Very pretty and super low maintenance, Silene diocia red campion is a semi-evergreen perennial that will form bold clumps of spoon shaped downy leaves from which tall stems waft above, with each stem bearing pretty delicate pink flowers.  Silene diocia will flower profusely from late spring right into early summer and sporadically up until autumn.

Each delicate flower is about 2.5 cm in diameter and features five deeply notched petals.  The flowers are very attractive to both bees and butterflies. This is a very pretty wildflower that is great in rockeries  as well as moist but well drained areas of the garden, so a good all rounder.

The plants are not bothered by any pests and it is a fantastic drought tolerant plant once established.  Plant is a partly sunny site as the plants appreciate some respite from the hot afternoon sun.  Once planted these plants are best left undisturbed.

Loved by flower farmers so an excellent cut flower and of course you will get a second flush of flowers where using for picking or by deadheading.

The perfect choice for perennial borders, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens as well as rock gardens and the popular wildflower garden look. Loved by bees and butterflies.
