This is a fabulous plant with its mounds of chartreuse green foliage and a profusion of airy wands of tiny pink flowers, that appear from late summer through to early autumn. The bees adore this plant as do other pollinators. The seed pods are in fabulous earthy tones and look great dried as well.
Erin Benzakein from Floret Flower Farms raves about this as a cut flower and says that it is a must grow for autumn bouquets and for wearable floral work. You can find Erins book on growing cut flowers here
Plants will gently self sow, however, most gardeners don’t find it to be problematic as extra seedlings are easy to pull up and replant should you decide to keep them.
Happiest and most productive in full sun
Harvest after the flowers have dropped and seed pods appear. You can expect a vase life of at least a week.
