perfect for pollinators

Tiarella cordifolia also known as Foam Flower is a perennial that forms lush clumps of  glossy heart shaped leaves that are approximately 10cm in diameter. In milder climates this plant remains evergreen but in colder temperatures the plant will die back over winter.

One of the attractive things about it is the foliage display that have burgundy variegation along the veins which is particularly evident in the spring and the autumn.  In winter if it remains evergreen in your climate then they become an attractive reddish bronze colour. Come spring it has the prettiest pink tinged flower buds that open to starry creamy white flowers that are on long racemes around about 7-10cm that are held on erect stems that stand well above the foliage.  The effect is striking when planted en masse.

This is a stunning groundcover plant for shaded areas and grows quickly to form large colonies via underground stolons.

Tiarella cordifolia is the recipient of the prestigious Award Of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.  This lovely plant performs best in cool, moist well drained soil in either partial or full shade. Plants do not like excessive winter wet.

A pretty choice for woodland gardens, cottage gardens and also is a wonderful choice for underplanting roses and shrubs.  Generally pest and disease free and not liked by rabbits!  Also makes an excellent flower for cutting.

Plants can be divided in the autumn after a few years once they have clumped up.
