Verbascum chaixii | Album
Elegant spires of flowers rise from a handsome rosette of grey-green leaves. Also known as Nettle-Leaved Mullein, this semi-evergreen perennial has the most beautiful flowers with a mauve bee and flowers over a long period from late spring to late summer although with the milder winters we have been having it has been flowering for even longer!
This beautiful Verbascum will make a majestic statement in your garden. Chaixii enjoys full sun in average but well-drained soils and is actually not fussy and will tolerate poor dry soil and is drought tolerant once established but good drainage is the key to success.
Remove spent flower heads to encourage further flowering as well as preventing it from self-sowing if you do not want more of these in your garden, but they are easily removed if you don't want them. Verbascums whilst not long lasting as cut flowers, they do add a touch of whimsy to floral bouquets.
