Botanical :: Derived from plants
Botanical is a New Zealand skincare brand that has been in existence since 2012 and we love to be able to support small businesses around the country and this beautiful brand is a great fit with our botanically curated range of gifts and garden wares, and we are sure you will love it too.
The creator of Botanical is Amy Burke who lives in Nelson. Amy has shared with us the story of her brand which resonates with us given our gardening and growing that we do here at Puriri Lane @ Addenbrooke.
We asked Amy to give us a bit of an insight about how Botanical started and some of the influences that have got her to where the brand is today and share with you Amy's story below.
"I grew up on a farm in rural Nelson. My grandparents owned the neighboring farm in which my grandmother had established a large English style garden which she was well known for.
My Grandmother's garden was open to visitors throughout the summer months and was exceptionally busy when her 2 acre meadow was in full bloom"
"I grew up knowing about all of the edible, extractable and healing benefits of the herbs and plants throughout her garden, such as Lemon Balm, Roses, Lavender, Chamomile and Manuka to name a few. My Grandmother lived very wholesomely and naturally whilst on the farm and both she and granddad still have a modest size garden now after retiring from the farm a few years ago"
"Now aged 37, I didn't realise the impact of her teachings until I was in my late 20s. My whole existence naturally gravitated towards this style of garden, botanicals, fragrances and florals. I had a true appreciation for it, whether it be flowers for the home, a garnish for a cake or fragrance ideas for my first batches of cold processed soaps back in 2012 which is where it all began."
"Now a few years on and after a wee break in the middle to have my two children Ruby (6) and Hugo (2), we have grown into manufacturing our handcrafted Bath Bombs, which we are well known for, along with a range of body care, skin care and accessories."
We asked Amy about the products that she has created and what is really important to her when creating new products.
"Great thought has been given to the feel, function, ingredients used with them being as natural as we can possibly achieve without compromising the function and feel and foot print of our products means we feel good about what we create"

"A bath is so relaxing and you should allow yourself at least 20 minutes, don't rush your relaxation time.
