Linaria purpurea | Canon J Went
Linaria purpurea Canon J Went which is also known as Toadflax is always featured in English gardening magazines. Canon Went is an undemanding and delightful little plant with tall spikes of icing sugar pink tiny little flowers that resemble miniature snapdragons, that appear from a basal clump of fine, grey-green leaves. Super easy to grow it will flower flat out when planted in a sunny spot in the garden. This delicate little plant takes up no space at all and mixes beautifully with other garden plants adding a haze of pale pink to your garden borders. Flowering occurs from spring and often right through until the first frosts. Canon Went looks beautiful mixed in with all other garden plants and is a very attractive addition to a naturalised planting scheme or wildflower garden. These plants are quite drought hardy once established and they self sow so pop up around the garden. The plants are hardy and long-lived and most of all make a beautiful cut flower and are also happy in a pot as don't take up much ground room!
The flowers last about a week in a vase, so definitely a great addition to the cutting garden. These little star performers also have the added advantage of being a mecca for bees. This is a cottage garden star perennial that you won't want to be without. It is also available in white.
Preferred growing conditions are varied and plants are happy in coastal environments and even cope in windy positions, in fact, they are happy basically anywhere - all they ask for is some good drainage and a sunny spot which is not too much to ask for such a star performer.
