Campanula glomerata | Caroline
This Royal Horticultural Society award winning Campanula glomerata Caroline is not one you see around these days. It is a spreading perennial that has upward facing bell shaped flowers that are a delicate shell pink to lavender colour that are held in dense clusters that are approximately 12cm across.
The flowering time for this pretty plant is from late spring and into early summer. The flowers are borne atop sturdy leaf stems above a rosette of heard shaped soft green coloured leaves. A real little charmer that is the perfect choice for a sunny or shady border.
Please be aware though that being a campanula it will spread particularly quickly if you plant into rich soil. We have ours in some pretty lean soil so she stays in check relatively well.
The flowers are excellent for cutting and can last up to two weeks in a vase, so an excellent choice for the cutting garden.
Easy to grow this low care perennial is also rabbit resistant which is always great for the rural gardeners. A great plants for attracting bees and butterflies.
After flowering, cut back to prevent self seeding and this will also encourage a second flush of flowers. Easily divided in either spring or autumn.
