Aquilegia vulgaris | Double White
Easy to grow Aquilegia vulgaris Double White adds a touch of class to the border with its pretty fluffy double white flowers, Plants have an upright growth habit with attractive grey-green foliage. Aquilegias are happy in full sun to partial shade in average, medium moisture but do require a well-drained position as they seriously dislike wet feet, but conversely, they do not like the soil to dry out, so mulching will help retain moisture over the hotter summer months.
Having white flowers the sun can burn them so we feel the best conditions are really partial shade. An excellent cut flower and the more that you cut the flowers, the more you will encourage the plant to produce more of its sparkling white flowers.
As these plants are grown from seed, the seed can be variable so you may get the odd single flower but still very pretty. Plants will self sow but if other Aquilegias are nearby you can find some interesting new plants popping up but that's what we love about Aquilegias.
Please note that contact with the sap can irritate sensitive skins.
